Why some people may choose surrogacy?

There are a variety of reasons why some people choose surrogacy in order to create or expand their family. Nowadays, more couples consider surrogacy when having difficulties to conceive a child the natural way. Infertility is only one of the reasons, however, not the only one.

Infertility is one of the main reasons why couples consider surrogacy. There are many reasons why couples may face infertility issues, for example, low sperm count, endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease.

Failed attempts of artificial insemination or in-vitro fertilization (IVF) are some of the main reasons why couples decide to choose surrogacy after trying ART treatments.

Some women face the struggle of recurrent abortion. They are able to conceive with ease, however, they are not able to carry to full-term.

For women who were diagnosed with uterine abnormalities or underwent a hysterectomy, pregnancy or giving birth is impossible. When facing these medical situations, finding a gestational surrogate may be an option.

Single individuals, such as a woman unable to conceive or carry to full-term or a single man regardless of his fertility status, may both require a gestational surrogate to fulfill their dreams of parenthood.

Same-sex couples also consider surrogacy in order to become a family. They are unable to conceive a child the natural way and opt for the help of a carrier.
